Alex May led a creative masterclass within the Arts in the Digital Age Online Forum, a three-day event commissioned by the British Council in Jordan and developed in partnership with FutureEverything from 21 to 23 February 2022. His session took place on 22 February as a closed-group workshop for a limited number of participants.

The masterclass focused on how artists and creative practitioners can begin working with digital technologies in a practical and sustainable way. Alongside approaches to making work with digital and electronic media, the session addressed artistic development, collaboration, exhibition-making, commissioning opportunities, and ways of sustaining a practice in changing technical contexts. The source material credits the session as led by Alex May with FutureEverything, the British Council, and Hind Joucka.

This workshop sits clearly within May’s wider interest in how digital tools reshape both artistic process and public experience. Here the emphasis was less on a single artwork than on helping practitioners build a framework for working critically and creatively with digital media, in a programme that later fed into broader British Council Jordan activity including [Digital] Transmissions.
