Waterlight

Waterlight is an audio and video mapped sculpture commissioned by Watermans Art Centre for their “The River Weekender”, part of the “Totally Thames” Festival.

The work consists of intertwining materials, shapes, and video of water in various physical states, filmed over several years, from a variety of international locations.

The playback order of the different video and audio elements is randomly controlled by the software running the installation.

The combination of the complex temporal and spacial relationships and juxtapositions between the physical, video, and audio components of the work create a meditative state that stimulates our innate personal memories and feelings of water as rain, waves, clouds, etc, and its myriad other physical states and sounds.  Our relationship to this liquid is vital and complex and permeates our emotions and our survival.
